For delegates who would like to learn more about RNIB’s work on accessible information creation and production we have arranged an opportunity to tour our site in Peterborough. As RNIB’s largest site with 350 staff, which includes our main transcription and production facility, a tour of the site provides visitors with an understanding of the comprehensive range of services RNIB offers, including:

  • Transcription of Braille into foreign languages, mathematics and music, as well as the production of some of our tactile images, maps and diagrams
  • The largest Braille production facility in Europe
  • Our famous Talking Book Service. We distribute around 8,000 books a day, using the latest digital technology, to over 40,000 customers
  • Our warehouse, where products and information are despatched around the world.

We are arranging tours for conference delegates on Tuesday 2 December and Monday 8 December. Tours will take place at 10:00 or 14:00 and should take around 2 hours.

Peterborough is approximately 2 hours train journey from Birmingham New Street, and the RNIB site in Peterborough is roughly 10-15 minutes in a taxi from the station in Peterborough. All visitors are responsible for organising and booking their own travel.

If you are interested in taking a tour of RNIB Peterborough, please complete the RNIB Peterborough Site Tour Registration Form below and return it to us by 10 November 2008.

There is no fee for this site tour but you must be booked as a conference delegate to attend on these days.
