If you would like to share your work, experience or research at the conference we are seeking abstracts for conference presentations and exhibitions.

Previous conferences have attracted people from all over the world interested in discussing every aspect of tactile graphics, and this year’s conference promises to be even bigger and better than previous events.

All abstracts will be reviewed by members of the conference Content Group which is made up of industry experts from around the world with diverse areas of expertise. The Content Group will review all abstracts based on the relevance to the conference, contribution to the industry, clarity of writing and originality of work. Abstracts recommended by the Content Group will then be invited to participate in the conference.

We welcome presentation submissions on any topic relating to tactile graphics, particularly those with an applied focus, including, but not limited to:

  • access to maps, arts and heritage, curriculum and exam materials
  • comparisons of different formats
  • descriptions to accompany tactile graphics
  • development of tactile graphic literacy
  • early years / pre braille images
  • evaluation of materials in real-life settings
  • good-practice and standards development
  • interpretation of graphical information through tactile formats
  • low-tech tactile diagram solutions
  • non-braille tactile graphics
  • procurement and dissemination of tactile graphics
  • research updates
  • spatial cognition and tactile perception
  • tactile book creation
  • tactile models
  • tactile signage
  • tactile-audio diagrams
  • technologies for design, production and use of tactile graphics
  • training issues for end-users and those working with them
  • virtual haptic access to graphics

All conference presenters will be required to book for the conference for at least the day they will be presenting. Presenters of accepted abstracts will be encouraged to submit a copy of their final presentation slides, full paper or summary of their session for the conference website.

Please note the deadline for submission of abstracts is: 25 July 2008
