Abstract:

The speaker will present the work carried out to design three images for a museum exhibit on Japanese art. The exhibit, shown in the exhibition hall of "Obra Social Caixa Catalunya" in Casa Mila, Barcelona (Spain) in the summer of 2008 includes more than 100 original Japanese woodcuts. Touch Graphics carried out the tactile representation of three of the art pieces shown in the exhibit to be displayed in the Tactile Space provided to visitors. The presentation will review the entire project from understanding the client’s needs, designing the tactile images and their production, focusing on decisions made throughout the design and revision process to meet the client’s needs. Design aspects such as occlusion of objects, perspective or inclusion of specific elements that help understand the image general environment will be addressed. Finally, the production method used will be briefly reviewed.
