Open the book, and there lies a pop-up that helps VI children to understand math by touch. My small idea is to make such books, but, which are powerful tools for teaching math to VI children.
Pop-ups will help the VI child understand math in the following ways:
A. It will help the child to reaffirm the fundamental 3 dimensional mental images which were built by using a model.
B. It will help the child to manipulate mental images.
In this presentation, the presenter will share pop-ups which were made by presenter for 3 different purposes; Pop-ups to reaffirm mental images, Pop-ups to help understand projected diagram of 3 dimensional shapes, Pop-ups to help manipulate mental images to understand mathematical contents. In addition, the method of applying, the actual cases which these pop-ups were used, and its evaluation will be discussed.
