This exhibition is to show examples of my tactile paintings, explain how and why I have chosen this style of work.
This method of painting was developed to include the previously excluded audience of the visually impaired, to invite them into the art arena. I wish to show how touching paintings invites and actively encourages the audience to open up dialogue. I would also like to share with the delegates, the experiences of showing this style of work.
My work is a fusion of text, dialogue and memories. The viewer is invited to reach into the imagery, let their hands feel the journey and their eyes share the experience.
Commissions have included Tate Modern, Touch Tours collection and Mary Rose Museum, Portsmouth.
