Abstract:
This workshop is aimed at people who already design or produce tactile images – ask practitioners for advice on the problems and issues you face!
A tactile image can only communicate information successfully if it has been planned, designed and produced effectively. This workshop will offer impartial advice and critique on the effectiveness of various diagram styles and formats. Examples showing various levels of design and production quality will be available for discussion, from which principles of good practice will be highlighted. Learn how to tackle even the most challenging graphics!
Participants are encouraged to bring their own tactile images, as finished products, works in progress or as images yet to be converted, for immediate advice on your specific problems.
The presenters will share the tips and tricks used in professional tactile graphic design to ensure the most effective end products, and content will be guided by the needs and interests of those attending.
Topics will cover: Tactile design principles; Methods of production; Overcoming common challenges; Trouble shooting – what to do when it doesn’t go to plan; Practical help – discussing the images you need to produce.
The workshop will be held in the NCTD training and production room showcasing a variety of tactile graphic design and production equipment.
