This exhibit will display a selection of custom-designed tactile/low vision maps. Some are designed in a permanent display format, and produced in magnesium; others are designed as portable maps, and are produced in an encapsulated paper format.
Both permanent display and portable maps have both Braille and large print labelling, and utilize an easy-to-read tactile symbol system. These maps also come with a legend and directory of locations, and have an X/Y coordinate system for quick tactile navigation. They are simultaneously appropriate for blind and low vision users, as well as those with normal vision.
