From the earliest years we combine 3D representations with 2D equivalents, so that at secondary level children can interpret challenging 2D diagrams. We will show a range of tactile diagrams, pictures, models and '3D diagrams' produced for children from nursery age through to A-level. Examples of where and when a 2D representation is not sufficient, and models need to be produced.

How do you deal with contour lines - a Roman road?
Which paints and finishes feel right rather than look right?
What is a symbol and what a picture?
How do we maximise production by making the same resource suitable for the blind and the partially sighted?
How do we extend the potential of an apparently limited medium like swell paper?
