Tactile Diagrams Manufactured Using Digital
Process

For the last 3 years the APU
has been developing a method of manufacturing tactile diagrams using state of
the art inkjet print heads. The UV cured polymer inks used are extremely tough
and will adhere to a plastic, metal or paper surface. The printing resolution
is 180 dpi which means clear, sharp, readily accessible tactile features are produced.
Importantly, the digitally stored images can be repeatedly printed exactly the
same, yet changes to the design can be quickly and easily done.
In conjunction with concurrent work on the design of tactile features the APU
contribute to the VI community a technologically advanced method of produce
highly refined tactile diagrams with a long life.
