Maps and Pictures 2002
Tactile graphics for young learners:

Boguslaw Marek
Hungry Fingers / Catholic University of Lublin, Poland
The workshop is intended as
a presentation and a chance for hands-on experience of a set of educational tools,
facilitating the understanding of a wide range of visual concepts related to spatial
relations. The relation between three dimensional everyday objects and two-dimensional
representations of these objects, body parts, geometric shapes and space management,
rotation, symmetry and perspective are some of the concepts which can be taught
with the help of tactile graphics and a set of easy to use tools. Different applications
of these concepts for designing various activities for education (geometry, geography,
science, art, foreign language teaching) as well as for entertainment (games,
puzzles) will also be demonstrated.
