Fundação Memorial da América Latina, Brazil
Open Sky Project from Latin
American Memorial Foundation, is responsible for a special program of accessing
impaired people to Latin-American art and culture. On this project, a catalogue
in Braille with tactile images was developed. The present work describes the production
of these images, on swell-paper, and the several steps of digital and handling
manipulation of them by a plastic artist, with subsequently analysis by a blind
person. Questions involved in the transcodification of an art work into a special
image for blind people are also discussed. What seems to be visually good almost
always is not tactile good, and vice-versa. Try to find the meeting point between
these two aesthetics is the great contribution of this work.
